Public Works

Payson City 800 South Roadway Reconstruction

The Public Works Department is responsible for over 97 miles of streets, curb gutter and sidewalk, and snow removal throughout Payson City.  As a City we collect 5,927 residential garbage cans each week, and 109 commercial dumpsters.  We deliver culinary drinking water to almost 6,722 connections daily.  This water is delivered through a piping system fed from two water tanks that were replaced almost five years ago.  There are 5,015 pressure irrigation connections that allow the business owners and residents of the City to water their lawns and plants from April/May to September/October each year.  The sewer plant processes almost 2,000,000 gallons of waste water each day from the residents of Payson City, Elk Ridge, and Woodland Hills. There are 6,268 sewer connections that the City maintains throughout the boundaries of the City. The department also manages a fleet of city cars, trucks, construction equipment, emergency vehicles, and sanitation trucks at the maintenance building facility.  The landfill and storm drain systems are also maintained by this department and the regulations from the State of Utah and the Environmental Protection Agency continue to become stricter on storm drain and sewer all of the time.

Payson City Public Works’ mission is to maximize our experience, expertise, and commitment to protect the health and well being of those living and working in our great City.  We strive to keep the costs as low as possible to do this and yet provide the service that everyone expects from living in this City.
