Construction activities have commenced for the Utah State Veterans Nursing Home in Payson. The facility is near the entrance of the city at 1551 North Main Street. The ten (10) acre project site will include many improvements including 98,000 square feet of building space, parking areas, and open space areas. The project includes 108 private rooms for veterans throughout the State, with a majority from Utah, Juab, Carbon, Emery, Sevier, Millard, and Salt Lake counties.
At present, there are over 160,000 veterans in Utah. Over 42,000 reside in the service area for the Utah County facility. Nearly 26,000 of these veterans are over the age of 65, the age group most likely to require nursing home care. This facility provides veterans the ability to receive necessary long term care services in their community without being relocated to Salt Lake City.
Construction completion date is anticipated to be May 2013. For more information regarding this project, please visit www.veterans.utah.gov
